President/Alternate SMOB: Hunter Barclay

 

            My name is Hunter Barclay, and I am a senior at Mountain Ridge High School. I am involved in many clubs and organizations at my school and in my community including: the Boys’ Tennis Team, Mock Trial, Debate Team, Science Bowl, Ocean Science Bowl, Envirothon, Spanish Club, French Club, Chinese Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Students, S.H.O.P (Students Helping Other People), Model United Nations, Eckhart Baptist Church Youth Group, Bible Quizzing, National Honor Society, Frostburg Community Coalition, Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board, and Student Council. I also enjoy helping others by assisting with church dinners, going on mission trips, and corrdinating fundraisers. I am currently visiting several colleges, and I am still undecided on what I want my major to be. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, going on vacation, and reading. Some goals that I would like to accomplish this year incude: getting the middle schools more involved, increasing recognition for students, improving communication with the Maryland Association of Student Councils, organizing a meeting with the Garrett County Association of Student Councils, trying to get voting rights for our Student Member of the Board of Education, and combatting funding cuts that would negatively impact our school system. I am very excited for this upcoming school year and the many goals that I plan to accomplish during my term in office.
