Vice President/SMOB: Karli Hakala

My name is Karli Hakala, and I am a student at Mountain Ridge High School. I am involved in a number of organizations at Mountain Ridge including the National Honor Society, the debate team, the Envirothon team, Model UN, ECHO, mock trial, the French Club, and the Eco-Club. I participate in the Science Bowl and the Ocean Science Bowl, and I am the leader of a local water-testing group. I was selected for Girls’ State by the American Legion and have received a Minds in Motion award for track and field. Outside of school, I complete community service hours at Jennings Randolph Lake and contribute time to Adopt-a-Highway and work part-time at Wendy’s and Ckick-fil-a in LaVale. I feel that my effective time management and listening skills will aid me in effectively serving the students of Allegany County. Working around 10-15 hours a week has helped me to develop a strong sense of time management as every minute is a valuable and important part of my day. Listening is an attribute of mine I will always display, not only at ACASC meetings, but anytime a fellow peer has something to say. To be the SMOB is an incredibly huge honor and challenge that will be my number one priority.
